What is ProStat used for?

What is Prostat Used for? Prostat is recommended to help increase protein intake in a low volume. The following are some indications;

For Stage 1 and 2 pressure sores or injuries, wounds from diabetes, venous, surgical or burns, protein energy malnutrition (PEM), involuntary weight loss, sacropenia, low serum proteins, diaysis, and when fluid is restricted. For these indications, it is recommended to use ProStat Sugar Free
For Stage 3 and 4 pressure sores or injures, multiple pressure sores or injuries, and for hard to heal wounds from diabetes, venous, surgical or burns, or gastric bypass surgery. For these indications, it is recommened to use ProStat Sugar Free Advanced Wound Care (AWC)
For Dialysis, fluid restriction situations, and when inadequate protein and fiber intake is occuring. For thise indications, it is recommened to use ProStat Renal Care

The suggested dosage is 1-3 servings of 1 fluid oz (30ml) per day. Typically a healthcare professional such as your doctor will determin the prescription dosage based on the severity of your condition and dietary menu. It can be administered through a feeding tube or orally by mouth. ProStat is also shelf stable. ProStat can be mixed with your drinks or foods.

Many other protein products are mixed with 8oz of liquids and in some cases patients can not have that much fluid, which is why ProStat was created. ProStat is a collegein enzyme hydrolyzed protein which means that is broken down to its components of amino acids and peptides. This process provides the patients a product that is easily digestible and therefore the body can used it quickly.

Pro-Stat was created by Arnold and Myra Gans under their company, Medical Nutrition USA, located in New Jersey. Medical Nutrition USA was sold to Nutricia which is a division of Danone. Other products include FiberStat, UTIstat and DiffStat. Currently The Gans are consultants to bring a Hydrolized version of whey protein.
