InteliSwab COVID-19 Rapid Test for In-Home COVID-19 Testing

This remarkably simple COVID-19 rapid antigen test is an over the counter, self-collected, visually read lateral flow test to make detecting the presence of COVID-19 more accessible to the mass population. The rapid test can be used to detect the presence of SARS-COVID-19 for both symptomatic and asymptomatic cases.  The availability of this intuitive, self-administered test has the potential to expedite detection and tracing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This user-friendly, at-home COVID-19 rapid test gets its name for its intuitive workflow. The process is just “swab, swirl, and see.” With a gentle lower nasal swab, the entire “hands-on” time of this COVID-19 rapid test takes less than 1 minute. Results are delivered within 30 minutes of the test being administered.

Ease of Use

Making an easy-to-use at-home test has been a goal of many healthcare professionals since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some feature highlights that make this COVID-19 rapid test easy-to-use include:

• No dropper or precise number of drops required
• No complicated manipulation of the swab
• No alignment of a test strip onto Instructions For Use interpretation
• No risk of damaging unprotected assay strip with accidental touching
• No batteries, instruments, or smartphones required for use or to acquire results
• No need to send to a lab for interpretation

This at-home COVID-19 rapid antigen test is both practical and accurate. Each test has an initial 9-month shelf life with no need for ancillary supplies such as nasal swabs or readers. Additionally, the test has been proven to be highly accurate. Overall test performance reported a Positive Percent Agreement of 85% and a Negative Percent Agreement of 98%. Clinical performance was proven with untrained and unproctored lay users.

Healthcare professionals have been emphasizing the importance of testing since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The three main stages include diagnosis and triage, screening, and surveillance.
